What is permanent jewellery?
Permanent jewellery is a custom-fitted chain that is welded closed rather than finished with a clasp. The chain is measured around your wrist, ankle or neck, and its ends are joined using a small connecting ring. The jewellery is welded to itself—never to your skin.
The result is a clean, continuous chain that can be worn every day. SB Studio permanent jewellery is available in sterling silver and solid gold, with a range of chain styles to choose from.
Can I have a clasp instead?
Absolutely. Every permanent jewellery chain we offer can also be finished with a clasp if you would prefer a removable piece.
Choosing a clasp is a good option if you need to remove your jewellery regularly for work, sports, medical reasons or simply personal preference. You can still choose from the same chains and add charms or connectors.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are required for permanent jewellery at our Edmonton studio. Booking ahead gives us time to help you choose your chain, adjust the fit and weld or clasp the finished piece.
Book your permanent jewellery appointment through our online booking system.
Can I add a charm?
Yes. We offer a collection of charms that can be added to your permanent bracelet, anklet or necklace, including initials, gemstones, diamonds, zodiac symbols and seasonal designs.
You can keep the piece simple with one charm, combine several small charms or wear the chain on its own. If you are unsure which charm will work with your chosen chain, we can help you compare the size, weight and placement during your appointment.
How do I book a repair or reweld?
Book a Repair & Re-Weld Appointment through our online booking system. A booking fee is required to reserve the appointment and will be refunded when you attend.
Repairs on jewellery purchased from SB Studio are complimentary where possible. A service fee may apply to jewellery that was not originally purchased from SB Studio.
What if my permanent jewellery breaks?
Permanent jewellery is still fine jewellery, and a chain can occasionally break if it catches or is pulled. If possible, save the chain, connecting ring and any charms, then book a repair appointment.
In many cases, we can repair and reweld the original piece. We will need to inspect the chain before confirming what is possible.
What if I need to remove my permanent jewellery?
Permanent jewellery can be removed whenever necessary. If a medical provider, MRI facility, workplace or another situation requires you to take it off, cut the small connecting jump ring rather than cutting through the chain itself.
Keep the chain and any charms together. We can often refit and reweld the original piece at a later date.
